Hellebores, I owe you an apology.

Dear Hellebores,
When I mocked you early in spring for your underwhelming blossoms, I didn't know! Didn't know how solidly you'd keep pumping them out all season long, unfazed by our crazy springtime weather. DIdn't know how bravely you could withstand my watering negligence. Didn't know how nicely your lovely leaves would (finally!) spread out and add a little texture. Baby, baby, I'm sorry, you're an awesome flower! Now, can I buy you drink, Hellebores? I'd really like to watch you reproduce.
Your adoring servant,
Bootsy

Why, hello again!

Hi neighbors! I had kind of given up hope on my blog, but then 22 of you visited last month (or 3 of you visited a lot), so who knows, maybe I should keep it going.

Ok, then, the news of the gardens: wtf is up with the plant damage? My gardens were hit 4 times last week, and twice before that! Friends of mine are finding snapped stems and sliced-off blossoms that no mere squirrel could inflict. There are various theories but not witnesses yet. Karen G has advised me to go to security and/or Bonnie to review the camera footage. I haven't yet, but if it happens again I might. I also noticed some suspicious damage to the roses in front of the J building.

Other than that, though, no complaints, what a glorious spring it has been (except for the unseasonably warm and cold parts.)

Overhyped!

Well, I did it. I sunk in the time and waited and waited and waited for my Hellebores to finally start blooming... and what an underwhelming flower! They're very subtly colored (some might say dun-colored), nod downward and look droopy and sad from the moment they bloom. Not at all what it looks like in my gardening catalogue! I'm loath to move them because they take so dang long to recover. Hopefully they're grow into a big sturdy stand and have a little more character.

Oh, spring, come on!

Winter Greetings

Not much to do now but daydream. I'm going to force some hyacinths and amaryllis bulbs just to get my gardening yen on. My cabbage plants and heathers are holding steady in the cold, but the mums are long gone. Thanks, Karen, for the shout-out in the Special Edition this month!
